The necklace today served to make a political and environmental statement. I went to a rally to protest against the Western Australian government to build a 6-lanes freeway (named Roe 8) through the last wetlands in Perth at Beeliar. There is a very strong growing movement of protest against the current plan to build roads and toll to transport the freight on trucks from inland to the port of Fremantle. Rethink Perth Freight Link  is an alliance of community groups and other organisations who oppose the Perth Freight Link project and any destruction of the Beeliar wetlands and who promote alternative sustainable transport solutions. These solutions include increasing freight transport on rail, which inspired the design of this necklace.
