This necklace was done in two parts: the first part was done during Stefano Marchetti’s master class almost two years ago when he visited us in Perth. I had done a first sample of mosaic in copper and sterling silver. The second sample was a middle strip of sterling silver with on each side a row of 18ct gold & sterling silver mosaic. At the end of the workshop I had just a raw strip of pieces soldered together. I continued working on it in the following weeks, but the original idea I had for a piece of jewellery didn’t turn out the way I thought, so I ended up living the project unfinished in a box… The second part was done today. I had found the forgotten strip recently when I have been systematically open boxes in my studio, looking for forgotten materials to use…

Here’s the new photo posted, a day later. I have changed the title too and called it “unchained”. What I didn’t explain yesterday because I was too tired, is that I spend the whole day making a chain for the necklace, making the silver wires from scratch it’s very time consuming, to finally decide in the evening that I didn’t like it!
C’est un collier en qui a été fait en deux parties: la première partie a été faite pendant la « master class » de Stefano Marchetti il y a presque deux ans quand il est venu à Perth. J’avais fait un premier un premier échantillon de mosaïque avec du cuivre et de l’argent. Le second échantillon consistait d’un bande au milieu en argent sterling avec de chaque côté une rangée de mosaïque d’or 18ct et d’argent sterling. A la fin de l’atelier j’avais juste une bande brute de petits morceaux soudés ensembles. J’ai continué à travailler sur la pièce pendant les semaines suivantes, mais l’idée d’origine que j’avais pour un bijou n’a pas fonctionné comme je pensais. J’ai alors laissé le projet non fini dans une boite… La seconde partie a été faite aujourd’hui. J’ai retrouvé la bande de métal récemment alors que j’ouvrais systématiquement toutes les boites dans mon atelier, à la recherche de matériaux oubliés à utiliser…
Je mettrais une meilleure photo prochainement : il est très tard et l’éclairage du tube fluo dans mon atelier sur le métal… très difficile a photographier.
Voilà une nouvelle photo, un jour plus tard. J’ai aussi change le titre et je l’ai appelé : « déchainé ». Ce que je n’ai pas expliqué hier parce que j’étais trop fatiguée c’est que j’ai passé toute la journée à faire une chaine pour le collier, en faisant les fils d’argent à partir du métal brut cela prend beaucoup de temps, pour finalement décider le soir que je ne l’aimais pas !
